JOHN PRICE

Unsatisfied with surfing a desk in his native Australia, John Price moved to Christchurch, New Zealand to study Adventure Recreation. He found climbing, and soon after, photography, and the two passions have fuelled him ever since, through travel to 14 countries and the steady ascent of his career, following his relocation in 2012 to the Rockies, his now home. Even as he was building his own success and a global profile through Instagram, he challenged the negative impact of social media and the way playing to its algorithmic formulas can generate envy and anxiety, so John began to explore how to be more candid about depression, the manipulation of images, and the struggle that exists beyond the “perfect moments”.
A dedicated rock, ice and alpine climber, he started with no grander agenda than just to shoot climbing well. His signature wide perspective captures the grandeur of the places climbing takes us, and his dedication to giving it everything has brought him an international spotlight and deep respect for his willingness to keep things real and unposed.
